The challenge

Creating an immersive courtroom teaching space

London South Bank University (LSBU) wanted to create an innovative, immersive moot court environment within an existing building on their Southwark Campus. Their vision was to replicate the ambiance of an authentic courtroom, creating a specialist space where students could gain valuable hands-on experience in a realistic setting.

The role we're playing

Over several years, we’ve developed a strong relationship with LSBU, becoming a trusted advisor to their senior estates team and playing an integral part in delivering education construction projects, as part of their ambitious estate masterplan.

So, when it came to the moot court project, they called on Pulse Consult again – this time with a focus on our extensive contract administration expertise.

From the outset, it was going to be a fast-paced project, with the moot court needing to be ready in just three months, in time for the next student intake. We began by undertaking a large value engineering exercise with the contractor and client to make sure the scheme was viable and deliverable within the allocated budget.

From there, we led the project as contract administrators, driving value through the construction phase and making sure the project stayed on schedule and met the brief.

The results

We delivered this fascinating education construction project on time, on budget, creating a brand new facility for the University. The 30-seat courtroom is now open to students, and features judicial benching, a dock, a public gallery and witness stands.

As well as elevating the learning experience for current students and staff, the Moot Court is a valuable asset that will help them attract new learners and faculty, long into the future.
