Creating cutting-edge capacity for Janssen
In Latina, Italy, Janssen Pharmaceutica wanted to roll out the latest phase of its landmark Mirror project – an initiative designed to bring continuous manufacturing to key sites across Europe. The continuous manufacturing concept integrates industry-leading processes, providing real-time quality assurance and reducing both cycle time and operating costs.
The latest phase of Janssen’s roll out – introducing the Mirror 3 line at Latina – was designed to guarantee the commercial readiness of the site’s oral dose pipeline, creating capacity to satisfy forecasted demand for the next ten years. As well as installing the Mirror 3 line itself, the project called for a new building to house it and enable future expansion.
The role we're playing
Janssen asked our Pulse Consult life sciences construction specialists to support them on this project, following our successful collaboration on the Mirror 1 line in Beerse, Belgium and the Mirror 2 line, also at Latina.
Our expert schedulers are providing cost and schedule management, guiding the project from initial schedule risk assessments, right through to execution. As it takes shape, we’re helping the Janssen team navigate the complexities of creating a new building, within an existing courtyard, adjacent to the Mirror 2 line – without disrupting existing operations.
At the same time, we’re delivering cost forecasting, progress and cost reporting, scope change management, cashflow tracking, savings capture and payment application reviews.
The results
Once this cutting-edge life sciences construction project is complete, the Mirror 3 line will be a significant new asset to the Latina site, giving Janssen the ability to satisfy their forecast capacity needs, well into the future.
It will guarantee efficient production for new product launches, pave the way for associated growth in production volume – and deliver groundbreaking products to patients, faster.
