A £14 million scheme delivering much needed affordable housing to Southwark has been completed, alongside a newly improved landscaped courtyard, with our expert team at Pulse delivering employer’s agent and quantity surveying services.

Finished to a high standard and aligning to Southwark Council housing delivery plans, the new affordable housing development compromises of 20 apartments, seven houses and a landscaped courtyard, which has been improved and integrated into the wider existing estate.

In addition to the main employer’s agent and quantity surveying services provided, our work also included stakeholder, value, risk and quality management, and cost control consultancy.

Once appointed to the scheme, Pulse quickly stabilised the project, strengthened client, contractor and stakeholder collaboration and established robust commercial and contractual controls. Through proactive project leadership, rigorous change management and effective problem-solving, we successfully guided the development through to completion and handover over a two-year period.

Our ability to successfully step into a live project at a challenging stage, rebuild confidence amongst stakeholders, establish clear governance and lead the project through to a successful completion. We demonstrated the value of experienced employer's agent and quantity surveying services in recovering momentum and delivering certainty for the client.

Reflecting on Pulse’s role in the project delivery, Susannah Oso assistant project manager at Southwark Council said: “We regularly found ourselves anticipating the same risks, challenges and priorities, which made collaboration highly effective and enabled us to take a proactive rather than reactive approach to managing the project. Having an Employer's Agent who could quickly assess situations, see issues coming and work collaboratively to mitigate them was a significant benefit to both the project team and the client.”
