Modular GP facility for Waterloo Health Centre

Unable to secure new permanent premises, they urgently needed a temporary base where they could deliver consistent care to the local community for the next two years. Without it, thousands of patients would have had to travel further afield for the care they needed.

The practice, along with the local NHS Integrated Care Board, appointed Pulse Consult to make the move possible – providing lifecycle management, quantity surveying and contract administration services. With extensive experience in healthcare construction and modular buildings, we put a team together to get the project moving, fast. 

One of the most pivotal elements was securing land in central London, close to the existing practice, to give the community continuity of care. Our construction consultants also helped prepare the business case, handle procurement, oversee design development, achieve statutory approvals, and manage the construction and fit-out contractors.

It was also critical to integrate NHS third party IT suppliers into the design and construction processes to pave the way for a successful IT installation, and enable the practice to get up and running quickly.

Our team delivered 550m² of modern primary care facilities in modular buildings, meeting the client’s budget and incredibly tight turnaround time. The new practice was fully operational and able to welcome its first patients just 10 months after business case approval, and before the previous lease came to an end.

The GP team were delighted with the results, and the project was highly commended in the healthcare category of the Modern Methods of Construction Awards 2024.
